Thank you for your continued support over the years. Speaking of years, this fall marks our nineteenth
as a not-for-profit theater company in New York (can you believe it?) We wouldn’t have been able to make it this far without you!
As we are facing the big 2-0 as a company, filled with hope and ambitious plans for the coming year, we would like to remind you just how irreplaceable your support is. Small, independent, ground-breaking groups such as WaxFactory are particularly vulnerable in the current economic climate. Institutional funders have become risk-averse, and with that tidal shift, our existence increasingly depends on the generosity of loyal supporters like you. Thanks to you, we have experienced steady growth in our individual giving in the last three years, and we are grateful because we know you care. But in order to continue producing innovative, ambitious multidisciplinary work, we must double up on our efforts
- and, with your help, we will!
As usual, we have been hard at work developing both new and ongoing projects:
_We have received another award from the National Endowment for the Arts! These funds supported our sold-out in-progress presentation of PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER!
at one of America’s pre-eminent performing arts institution, Lincoln Center. [trailer]
_ Erika’s production of LA DISPARITION
(with Karin Holmström and Dion Doulis of Begat Theater) toured this year extensively through France, including Festival Printemps des Rues in Paris. The production is currently being adapted to English for performances in Denmark and the US in 2018/19. [trailer
_Alliance of Resident Theaters / New York (ART/NY)
has chosen WaxFactory for its Theater Leadership Program
. For the next three years, WaxFactory will receive ongoing pro-bono consulting from Arts Action Research.
_Ivan is working with our European collaborators to create the final cut of WaxFactory’s first feature film, 416 MINUTES
, which we are going to begin submitting to festivals soon. [trailer
As you contemplate your options for end-of-the-year giving, we kindly ask you, our loyal supporters, to renew your support for WaxFactory
. Next year will be our nineteenth as an internationally-minded independent non-profit art group – and we’ll need your help to bring our 2018 projects to life (including PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER!, STRANGE JOY and 416 MINUTES.)
Each donation we receive will be fully tax-deductible. This year, we will also send a special surprise gift (curated and produced by us!) to everyone donating above the $60 mark.
Lastly, as we move forward, our commitment to inclusiveness, equity and diversity within our ranks remains steadfast. We are thrilled to announce that three inspiring women have recently joined our Board of Directors: the PR guru Kamila Slawinski
; Broadway producer and Hollywood actor Karen Cellini
; WaxFactory’s longtime collaborator/performer Gillian Chadsey, and artist and entrepreneur Gabriella Hiatt
. Join us in welcoming them, as we usher in the next era in WaxFactory’s organizational history.
for your attention and continued support! With best wishes for the holiday season -- we look forward to staying in touch,
Ivan Talijancic + Erika Latta
